DESCRIPTION:This workshop is sponsored by the Mt Scott-Arleta Neighborhood Association with generous support from the Portland Street Plazas Program at PBOT \nLearn to give your worn-out clothes new life AND create a one-of-a-kind art installation for the Arleta Triangle. \nIn this hands-on\, 2-hour workshop you’ll learn the art of visible mending and creative reuse. We’ll go over three practical hand-sewing techniques—including patching\, seam repair and basic embroidery—that can be used to mend garments or create beautiful new designs from damaged materials. You’ll apply your new skills to create a unique\, upcycled fabric flag that will become part of a collaborative community installation in the Arleta Triangle. \nWhether you’re here to fix\, embellish\, or simply experiment\, you’ll walk away with transferable skills to keep your clothes in circulation longer—and a handmade contribution to a vibrant shared space. \nNo experience necessary; just bring curiosity and a willingness to stitch with care. \n  \n– This workshop takes place outside in the Arleta Triangle.
